Bahuda Yatra is celebrated at Puri with lakhs of devotees

Lakhs of devotees from across the country and abroad descended on the pilgrim town of Puri on Thursday to witness "Bahuda Yatra" which was held amidst tight security. After staying some days at their aunt's house,the deties Lord Jagannath, elder brother, Lord Balabhadra and their sister Devi Subhadra set off for their return journey to Sri jagannath templethree in their wooden chariots. The giant chariots were pulled by devotees amid gaiety and devotion on "bada danda" to in front of the Sri Jagannath temple where they would be stationed till Saturday. The deities would be decorated with "suna besha", golden attire, tomorrow on the chariots, which is expected to attract a large number of devotees.

We watched the Puri Bahuda yatra on TV. This year the "Pahandi" of the deties were very late. We enjoyed "Suna besha" and "Niladri Bije" of deties by the live telecast on TV.
