PLS Any body write here the preparation method (with odia chunk ) of the SAMBAR ,rasam & diff types of soups.These are not the odia dishes,but are very popular now a days.

So,We must try to change the dishes little bit with our Oriya style.

Hi, i used to make Sambar, Toor dal pepper Rasam, Hot and sour chicken soup...You can check out the method of making
SAMBAR
Ingredients:
2 cups toor dal
4 tbsps Sambar Masala
1 cup chopped eggplant (cut into 2"cubes)
1 cup chopped potato (cut into 1"cubes)
10 pearl onions, peeled and cored
10-12 baby okra
1/2 cup pumpkin
10-12, 3"long pieces of drumstick
Golf ball-sized lump of tamarind
3 tbsps ghee
1 tsp mustard seeds
8-10 curry leaves
3 dry red chillies
Salt to taste
Chopped fresh coriander leaves
Method:
Boil the dal and Sambar Masala with enough water till they are soft. The consistency should be that of a thick soup.
Soak the tamarind in a small bowl of hot water for 10 minutes. Squeeze well to remove all juice.
Add this purée to the dal. Mix well. Add salt to taste.
Simmer and add the potatoes to the dal. Cook till the potatoes are half cooked. Now add the other vegetables and cook till done.
Heat the ghee in a small pan and add the dry red chillies, mustard seeds and curry leaves. Fry till the spluttering stops and add to the boiled dal. Mix well.
Garnish with chopped green coriander

TOOR DAL PEPPER RASAM
Ingredients
Toor Dal - 1 cup
Tomatoes - 2
Black Peppers - 1tsp
Garlic - 5 flakes
Tamarind - 1tsp soaked in water
Dry Red Chillies - 4
Jaggery 1/2tsp
mustard seeds - 1tsp
Cumin Seeds - 1tsp
Curry Leaves - 3stems
Coriander Leaves chopped - 2tbsp
Oil - 2tbsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2tsp
Salt to taste
Method:
Pressure Cook Toor Dal, Tomatoes, Tamarind and Turmeric powder. Then Mash this mixture with required water. Add salt and jaggery and keep aside.
For Jeera Mix: Roughly grind Jeera, Garlic and peppers.
For Tadka: Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds and allow it to splutter.
Add Jeera mix and red chillies and fry for 2minutes and turn off the stove.
Add this tadka, curry leaves and coriander leaves to the dal mixture and heat for 5minutes (don't boil).


HOT AND SOUR CHICKEN SOUP
Ingredients
Chicken Breast(thinly sliced)-1
Egg-1
Prawns chopped-6 to8
Stocks-6cups
Ketchup-1/2cup
White vinegar-1/2cup
Salt-1tsp
Black pepper-1tsp
cornflour-1tsp
Sugar-1tsp
Chilly sauce-1tbsp
Cabbage finely sliced-4tbsp
Carrot finely chopped-3tbsp
Coriander leaves-2tbsp
Soya sauce-2tbsp
Method:
Marinate chicken breast and chopped prawns with salt,black pepper and cornflour.
Then boil stock ,add marinate chicken and prawns,sliced cabbage,chopped carrot,cook for 10 min.
Now add soya sauce,chilly sauce,sugar,ketchup and vinegar,thicken soup with cornflour paste.
Add beaten egg and remove from heat.
Lastly add coriander leaves and serve hot.

This RASAM preparation looks how.....?
Diff types of Rasam(made from varied ingredients) looks diff.If here the picture should've given,this rasam item would've much attractive to see(avoiding the taste).

HI Guddy, this Rasam taste great...we prefer only this rasam...once u try @ home surly u will like the taste....There is no option to upward the photo otherwise could do it...
